Meta has announced plans to form a strategic joint venture with Reliance Industries to build enterprise AI solutions powered by Meta’s open-source Llama models.
The collaboration aims to fast-track India’s AI adoption by creating customisable, industry-specific tools for businesses across functions like sales, finance, IT, marketing, and customer service.
With RIL’s digital infrastructure and Jio’s connectivity backbone, the venture promises to deliver secure, low-cost, and scalable AI deployments through cloud, on-premise, and hybrid setups.
The focus is on lowering barriers for adoption, particularly for India’s small businesses and startups, enabling them to access advanced generative AI capabilities without prohibitive costs.
Meta’s commitment to open innovation and Reliance’s ability to scale technology place the JV at the intersection of research and real-world application.
The companies see this as a step toward democratising AI in India, fostering innovation across industries, and strengthening the country’s position in the global AI landscape.
Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO, Meta, said, “We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Reliance to bring the power of open-source AI to Indian developers and enterprises. Through this joint venture, we’re putting Meta’s Llama models into real-world use, and I’m looking forward to Meta expanding its footprint in the enterprise space as we unlock new possibilities together.”
