WPP has appointed Tyler Turnbull as CEO of WPP Creative, effective early 2027.

Turnbull will join from McCann, where he currently serves as global CEO.

As CEO of WPP Creative, Turnbull will oversee the group’s integrated creative offering, bringing together agencies including VML, Ogilvy, Grey, Burson, AKQA, Landor and Design Bridge & Partners, alongside WPP’s capabilities across media, data, production, commerce and technology.

The development follows WPP’s 2 October announcement that Cook would leave the company after nearly three decades with VML and its predecessor agencies. Cook will continue as Global CEO of VML and CEO of WPP Creative through March 2027 to oversee the transition.

At the time, WPP said further details on the leadership structure of WPP Creative would be announced subsequently.

WPP has already named Eric Campbell, currently CEO of VML and WPP Creative North America, as Cook’s successor at VML. Campbell will assume the Global CEO position in March 2027 while retaining his North American responsibilities.

Cook took on the additional role of CEO, WPP Creative in February 2026, following three decades at VML. He previously led the creation of VML in 2024 through the merger of VMLY&R and Wunderman Thompson.

Turnbull will take over WPP Creative as the company moves into its next phase under CEO Cindy Rose.

Rose said, “Tyler is a world-class leader with the ambition, global perspective and creative conviction to lead the next chapter of WPP Creative. His appointment reflects our determination to bring together the very best of WPP for our clients, put creativity at the centre of growth and set a new standard for the industry. I am delighted that he is joining WPP.”

Turnbull added, "Together with our exceptional teams, my ambition for WPP Creative is to set a new standard for our industry: connected enough to bring WPP’s full strength to every client, distinctive enough to protect the unique magic and cultures of our iconic brands, and extraordinary enough to nurture the industry's most creative talent as we drive meaningful business growth for our partners. The opportunity to lead WPP Creative at this pivotal moment is a tremendous honour. I look forward to partnering with Cindy, Jon and the agency leadership teams to unlock the full power of WPP for our clients and create the conditions for the world’s best talent to do the best work of their careers.”

In a career spanning over 22 years, he has also worked with FCB and Publicis, among others.
