Publicis Groupe lands PayPal's global media account

Publicis Groupe has won PayPal’s global media account following a multi-agency pitch, bringing an end to WPP’s GroupM tenure on the business, according to a report by Ad Age.

The win adds to Publicis Groupe’s strong new-business streak in 2025, joining a roster of recent global media wins that includes Mars, Coca-Cola, and Paramount, further cementing the French holding company’s momentum in the global media landscape.

WPP’s GroupM had held the media budget for PayPal since late 2023. Reports indicate that WPP eventually resigned the account, citing a strategic pivot toward other opportunities.

The move comes at a time when PayPal is aggressively expanding its advertising arm, PayPal Ads, to capitalise on its transaction data and boost its presence in the emerging retail-media space.
