Meta has launched Muse, a personal artificial intelligence agent designed to handle tasks and pursue longer-term goals for its users.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Meta, took to Instagram to announce the launch. 

Built around 'familiar messaging-based interactions', Muse allows people to communicate with it much like they would with another person, either through the dedicated Muse app or directly via WhatsApp. Users can simply describe what they want accomplished, while Muse takes the necessary actions using Muse Spark, which Meta describes as its most capable AI model to date and one designed specifically for real-world agentic tasks.

Muse can perform everyday tasks such as sending emails and booking travel, while also tackling more complex, longer-term objectives. After a user shares a goal, the agent can help develop a personalised plan, coordinate time and resources, and independently advance the work. It can open a browser, complete online forms and, where appropriate, negotiate on the user’s behalf.

The system is also designed to continue working after users close the app. For tasks that require additional time, Muse can operate in the background.
