JioHotstar is expanding internationally, launching its streaming platform in the UK, Canada and Singapore with a catalogue of more than 160,000 hours of content across 12 plus Asian languages. The launch brings the platform’s Indian films, television, regional programming, originals, reality shows, kids content and anime to the three markets, alongside interactive features and new subscription options.

The international launch includes Hotstar Specials and originals such as Asur, Pritam & Pedro, Special Ops, Criminal Justice, Heartbeat and Resort, as well as films including Dhurandhar, 12th Fail, Chhichhore, Kesari Chapter 2 and Kill.

JioHotstar is also bringing new interactive features to international audiences.

Bigg Boss will be available across six languages, with viewers in the UK, Canada and Singapore able to vote live across editions of the reality show. Audiences in the UK and Canada will also get access to the 24x7 live feed, while viewers in Canada will be able to watch Bigg Boss Hindi seven days ahead of its television broadcast.

The platform will also launch India Ka Top 1 Per cent, a new game show hosted by Anil Kapoor, in Canada and Singapore.

Content from JioStar’s television network will also be available, including shows from Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah. Viewers in Singapore and Canada will get before-TV access to select shows, while audiences in the UK will be able to watch popular programmes alongside their television broadcasts.

The launch introduces quarterly and annual subscription plans across the three markets. Quarterly plans are priced at GBP 19.99 in the UK, CAD 19.99 in Canada and SGD 29.98 in Singapore, while annual plans cost GBP 69.99, CAD 49.99 and SGD 69.98 respectively.

Existing Hotstar subscribers will transition to equivalent JioHotstar plans using their current credentials. In the UK, existing subscribers can continue on their monthly plans as long as auto-renewal remains active.

The service will be available on mobile and connected TV, with subtitles and dubbing across more than 12 Asian languages. The company said it will add more than 30,000 hours of fresh content annually across the platform.

The international expansion extends JioHotstar’s existing scale in India, where the platform has more than 500 million active users.

Amit Malhotra, head – international business, JioStar, said: “Streaming has spent the last decade competing on the size of its catalogue. We believe the bigger opportunity now is to reimagine how audiences experience entertainment; not just what they watch, but how they discover, engage with and shape the experience in real time. South Asian audiences have a deep connection with Indian entertainment across languages, generations and households. At the same time, audiences globally are increasingly seeking stories and cultures beyond their own. We see an opportunity to build for this broader, underserved global audience - not simply export an Indian streaming service to new markets. As we expand internationally, our ambition is to show what becomes possible when scale, language, cultural diversity, personalisation and deeper audience participation are built into the streaming experience from day one.”
