Snapchat has introduced ‘Now Playing’ on Snap Map, allowing users to share their Spotify listening activity with friends in real time.

The feature integrates Spotify with Snap Map, enabling Snapchatters to link their accounts and control who can view their listening activity. Users can also discover songs through friends and save tracks to Spotify from Snap Map, Spotlight and Sound Pages.

According to Snapchat, more than 450 million people use Snap Map each month.

Through Now Playing, users can see what their friends are listening to on Snap Map. Tapping a track allows them to explore Spotlight videos featuring the same sound, open the song on Spotify or save it to their Liked Songs. Tracks can also be saved directly to Spotify from Spotlight videos and Sound Pages.

Users can connect their Spotify accounts through Snap Map, Sounds, friend profiles or Snapchat’s Settings.

Once linked, users can decide who can see their Now Playing status through four privacy options: Friends, which shares activity with Snapchat friends; Friends on the Map, which limits it to friends with whom users already share their location; Select Friends, which allows users to choose specific people; and No One, which keeps listening activity private.

Now Playing is available in markets where Spotify and Snapchat operate, with Canada set to receive the feature later.
