Following the Government banning real money online games, Dream11 has ended its sponsorship of the Indian cricket team, six months before the contract was to come to an end, according to a NDTV report.

Dream11 had bagged the jersey rights for the Indian cricket team in 2023 for INR 358 crore. The three year deal was set to end in March 2026.

The move comes after the Indian government passed 'The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill' last week. The bill prohibits any gambling or skill-based fantasy game involving real money.

While Dream11 continues to exist with fantasy games offering prizes instead of money, 90% of its revenue came from real money games. Given the hit the company has taken, it's no surprise that the company has ended its partnership with the Indian cricket team.

The move comes two weeks before the Asia Cup is set to kick off in UAE on 9 September.
