Cannes is an incredible experience from morning until night.
We started our day early with a morning meeting, followed by another over lunch. That was my first real taste of fashion in the city. Everything felt so chic. We went to Zuma for lunch and enjoyed amazing food, a great ambience, and, of course, some fabulous fashion on display.
When you begin your walk from the far end of the Palais, everything feels so calm in the morning. The yachts are parked so close to the shore that you can actually peek inside and admire their beautifully designed interiors.
I certainly did.
As we got closer to the Palais, things became a lot busier. The sheer number of people in Cannes for the Lions is unbelievable.
I did make the mistake of wearing heels. My advice? Don't bring them at all. There is simply too much walking involved.
Our next stop was the Havas Café, and I loved it. We met so many different people and had some truly interesting conversations. That's one of the things that makes Cannes special. You encounter people with such varied perspectives, and those interactions help you grow.
I've been connected to advertising since I was 16 because I started out as a model. But I never realised just how vast the global advertising industry really is.
Later that evening, we attended a SIGA (Sport Integrity Global Alliance) event at the Roberto Cavalli Lounge. I've been a mentor with SIGA, so I was invited. Being there and seeing the Cavalli collection up close was fascinating. I've always been a fan of the brand's designs and own several pieces myself. More than anything, though, it was a gathering of people from around the world. Interestingly, I ended up meeting people from Mumbai, and those conversations could potentially lead to working together in the future.
That's the beauty of Cannes. You never know who you're going to meet.
The atmosphere at night is completely different. We're travelling with our children, and we happened to come across a live performance by an artist I didn't recognise (Central Cee), but my son certainly did. The lights, the music, the energy, it was a complete sensory overload.
After a quick stop back at our apartment, we headed out again.
Another wonderful thing about Cannes is that if you don't want to network, you don't have to. You can simply stroll around, enjoy the sea breeze, or grab an ice cream. It's not all business. There are gelato shops everywhere. We had one with the Manifest team and then another shortly after. A definite calorie overload.
The city has such an energy that you simply don't feel like calling it a night.
Still on my Cannes bucket list is watching France play a World Cup match in a local bar alongside the locals, and taking a ride on the little tourist train that winds its way around the city.
