Famous Innovations' entries for Cannes

With less than a month to go for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Manifest continues with its Cannes Contenders series.

Through this, we aim to showcase India's work for the Lions before the festival kicks off, as the country looks to better its 18-Lions haul from 2024.

Famous Innovations' has two entries for the festival.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation: Seven Layers of Truth

The initiative looks to address the rise in astrological C-sections based on the insight that every year 5,00,000 Indian women undergo elective C-sections based not on medical necessity but on astrologically chosen timings believed to bring their babies good fortune..

Expectant mothers arriving for their routine ultrasounds were given a series of seven envelopes, each representing one of the layers cut during a C-section. With every envelope, they uncovered not only an image of their baby but also truths about the surgery’s risks, recovery process, and long-term impact.

Henlo Pet Nutrition - Anatomy of Suffering

Henlo’s campaign addresses the ethical issue of importing exotic dog breeds in India, highlighting the suffering these breeds endure in the country’s tropical climate. The campaign targets status and vanity-hungry consumers, by employing vintage-style anatomical illustrations to visually depict the physical distress these dogs face. The core message urges dog owners to prioritise a pet’s well-being over looks, advocating for the adoption of local dogs better suited to the environment. With the tagline ’Proudly Indian,’ Henlo emphasises its commitment to ethical pet ownership and local dog populations.
