Ulka, part of BBDO Group India, has appointed Siddharth Mehta as group creative director.

In his new role, Mehta will report to Rakesh Menon, chief creative officer, Ulka and work closely with the creative leadership team to drive the agency’s creative agenda and nurture a culture that enables teams to produce distinctive, high-impact work.

He moves from The Womb, where he was senior creative partner.

Menon said, “We’re at a really interesting point at Ulka. We’re building what we want the next Ulka to be, and a big part of that is getting the right people in the room. People who are hungry, restless, who want to push the work and, importantly, want to build something with us. I think Siddharth has that in him. He’s curious, he’s got an interesting mix of experiences, and he genuinely wants to make things happen.”

M Damodaran, president and head - office, Bengaluru, Ulka, added, “Sid comes with a strong track record of mainline, creative tech and digital agencies and with a distinctive approach to storytelling and brand building, bringing a fresh perspective and wealth of experience for the role. His creative vision and ability to turn ideas into compelling stories make him an excellent addition to the Ulka South leadership team. Looking forward to the fresh energy and new, endless creative opportunities for all the brands.”

Siddharth Mehta, group creative director, Ulka, said, “Ulka is one of the longest-running agencies in India and has consistently stayed relevant through cultural change and the emergence of new mediums. What excites me is the opportunity to be part of its next chapter, with a clear intent to bring greater courage to the work and combine it with strong insights and storytelling craft. I’ve also inherited a highly driven and talented team that is hungry to do great work, and my priority is to champion them and create an environment where they can do their best work. With Ulka’s deep understanding of the market, culture and consumers, I look forward to creating ideas and stories that are bold, meaningful and find a genuine place in people’s lives.”

In a career spanning over 15 years, Mehta has also worked with HyperCollective, SapientNitro, and Leo, among others.
