Netflix has unveiled its slate of original shows and films scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform in 2026.
The announcement was made during a showcase event held in Mumbai on 3 February, where the global streamer revealed a lineup of upcoming titles spanning multiple genres and languages.
The event offered a glimpse into Netflix’s content strategy for the coming year, highlighting its continued focus on large-scale originals and locally rooted storytelling for Indian and global audiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Monika Shergill, vice-president - content, Netflix India, highlighted the platform’s commitment to building compelling, culturally resonant stories while expanding its slate of original programming for 2026.
She said, “Last month, we completed ten years in India, and while it's a big milestone for us and we are very proud, it also feels like a moment to pause, reflect and express our deepest gratitude. This journey has taught us how to listen, adapt and grow alongside our diverse Indian audience. Over time, we learned one simple truth- there is no single way to tell Indian stories. India is many Indias - shaped by language, culture, taste and context. Success here comes from listening very closely and building entertainment for a diverse audience. As we look to 2026, our programming is guided by one clear intent - to stay deeply connected to our country in all its diversity, to salute, celebrate, and entertain our audiences. Every choice we make here is informed by how our audience watches and builds fandoms.”
Bela Bajaria, chief content officer, Netflix, also shared a short video message on Netflix’s journey in India, the legacy of storytelling built over the past decade and how Indian stories continue to earn global recognition. She said, “When Netflix came to India a decade ago, we were focused on delivering a rich variety of local stories from across India, reflecting the country’s diversity, and audiences in India loved it. Together with India’s creative community of writers, filmmakers, actors, producers, and artists, we feel proud to have been an integral part of India’s media and entertainment landscape, shaping culture, conversations, and fandom.” Looking ahead, she added, “Today, as we unveil the thrill of what is coming next, we are truly appreciative of the creators who trusted us, the partners who believed in us, and millions of people across India who press play and make entertainment such a powerful part of everyday life and finally all of you from the press community for your support. I cannot wait for you all to experience the next extraordinary decade with Netflix.”
