JioStar's Kingshuk Mitra steps down

Announces plans to launch an independent venture.

Kingshuk Mitra, who helmed impact properties, agency partnerships, measurement and branded content at JioStar has announced his departure from the streaming platform.

Prior to his current leadership position, Mitra, headed ad sales for the sports vertical at Disney.

Mitra disclosed that he is stepping away to launch an independent venture in a post on LinkedIn on 4 November 2025.

Stating that it was “Time to turn the page”, he wrote that while it was an incredible chapter he has decided “it’s time to begin something of my own.” He revealed that his new venture will be around an idea that merges his two core interests: creativity and technology, marking a pivot to entrepreneurship.

Previously Mitra served a nearly 17-year stint at WPP, where his last held position was overseeing the operations at Essence Mediacom, Group M at APAC.

He has also worked with Madison World and Emami, among other organsisations in a career spanning over two decades.
