Andhra Pradesh police have registered an FIR and arrested an individual following a complaint by JioStar over the alleged unauthorised distribution of its television channels and digital content through an IPTV application in Guntur district.
The FIR was registered on 20 July 2026, at Phirangipuram Police Station in Guntur under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Copyright Act, 1957.
The action followed a complaint and evidence submitted by JioStar concerning the alleged distribution of its copyrighted content through an IPTV application called ‘Star Share’.
Following the registration of the FIR, police searched premises linked to the alleged operation and seized a mobile phone containing electronic evidence. The application was allegedly distributed through messaging platforms to local cable operators.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly sold subscriptions to the IPTV application, enabling the unauthorised streaming and monetisation of JioStar’s television content.
The investigation indicates that the application was circulated through a closed distribution network. Police are examining whether other individuals were involved in its distribution and operation.
The application is understood to have stopped operating in the area following the police action. The investigation remains underway, with authorities examining evidence gathered in the case.
