Lava's 'Sam Survivors Support Group's Last Meeting' campaign.

Lava has rolled out a campaign for the launch of its AGNI 4N and to expand its presence in the UK market.

Conceptualised by SW Network and produced by Banana in a Suit (BIAS Studios), the campaign comprises an ad film.

The film is set inside a fictional ‘Sam Survivors Support Group’, where a group of young people come together to share hilariously relatable stories of their experiences with a smartphone that has pushed their patience to the limit. Featuring prominent UK creators Deji Olatunji, Harry Pinero, Max Khadar, Joe Weller and Cariad Ryan, in an interview style, support group setting, the film uses exaggerated anecdotes and comic storytelling to bring their shared frustration to life. The conversation takes a turn when the group discovers the Lava AGNI 4N, prompting them to consider moving on from ‘Sam’ - a playful reference to a popular mobile phone brand.

What we think about it: Cleverly takes a subtle dig at a competing smartphone brand without naming it outright, using the ‘Sam Survivors Support Group’ as a witty device to turn familiar consumer frustrations into entertaining storytelling. While the competitor-bashing approach isn’t particularly new, Lava executes it with popular UK creators, polished production and well-timed humour, helping the brand establish its presence in the UK while making the film feel more entertaining than a conventional product-led attack ad.

Raghav Bagai, co-founder, SW Network, said, “The brief was to introduce AGNI 4N to a new audience in the UK and communicate its strengths in a way that didn’t feel like a conventional smartphone campaign. We wanted to find a simple human insight that could give us a strong creative platform and make the product naturally part of the story. That led us to the idea of looking at the everyday frustrations people have learned to live with and turning them into something entertaining.”

Puravansh Maitreya, head marketing, Lava International, said, “As Lava enters the UK market, we wanted to introduce the brand with transparency and relatability. The campaign reflects the true essence of our brand persona, consumer-first, confident and setting out to change the experience quotient in the mid-tier segment. The AGNI 4N is designed to give consumers an experience free of compromise, and this campaign brings that thought alive in a way that is easy to comprehend, with a little fun.”

Shubham Chawla, business head, Youthbeat, added, “Over the last two years, we’ve seen a significant shift in the global creator ecosystem, with YouTube emerging as a major platform of choice for creators worldwide. For this campaign, we wanted to go a step further and bring together some of the UK’s biggest and most distinctive creative voices. Their understanding of humour, character and storytelling helped us translate the idea into a world that feels recognisably British while remaining universal. The scale of the talent also reflects the ambition behind taking an Indian brand to a global audience.”

Jaunty, producer and director, Banana in a Suit (BIAS Studios), said, “The idea gave us a lot of room to play with character and performance. Shooting in London with a UK cast helped us ground the support group in a world that felt authentic and instantly recognisable. At the same time, working on the ground in London gave us the opportunity to bring together local talent and a global production.”

The campaign is being amplified across the UK through influencer-led videos, OOH placements and social media, with an aim to extend the film’s humour and product story across multiple consumer touchpoints.
