McDonald's India - North and East has rolled out a campaign, 'Good Vibes Start with McCafe', featuring actor and singer Tara Sutaria as it reaches the milestone of 200 McCafé outlets across North and East India.
Alongside the campaign, McCafé has introduced its summer range.
Conceptualised by BBDO India, the campaign comprises an ad film.
The film, built around an original anthem, features Sutaria across a series of everyday coffee moments at McCafé, from working on a laptop and going on a date to catching up with friends after a match and gaming together. It also highlights the coffee beans used in McCafé's beverages. The film aims to reflect McCafé's evolving brand positioning by celebrating coffee as a part of everyday occasions while showcasing its beverage portfolio.
What we think about it: The film strings together familiar coffee moments and an upbeat anthem, but never lands on a memorable idea. While the film is meant to celebrate McCafé's expansion to 200 outlets across North and East India, the milestone barely features. The closing interaction between Tara Sutaria and a male protagonist also feels unnecessary, even if it is intended to tie into the campaign's 'Good Vibes Start with McCafe' tonality or a larger series of films. The anthem could have worked well as a standalone sonic identity, but the film itself adds little beyond generic café imagery.
Anant Agarwal, vice-chairperson, CPRL (McDonald's India – North and East), said, "At McCafé, our ambition is to build one of India's most loved and trusted coffee brands by making great coffee accessible to more consumers without compromising on quality or value. The milestone of 200 McCafé outlets reflects our continued investment in expanding our footprint and strengthening our beverage portfolio. As coffee culture continues to evolve in India, our refreshed 'Good Vibes Start with McCafe’ platform, along with our collaboration with Tara Sutaria as face of McCafé, reinforces our commitment to connecting with young consumers and making McCafé their preferred choice for everyday coffee occasions.”
