Flipkart is back with the second edition of its flagship summer sale event, Sasa Lele, and this time, it’s doubling down, quite literally.
Conceptualised by 22feet, the campaign takes a humorous detour to Kodinhi, a village in Kerala known for its unusually high number of twin births, to bring alive the platform’s promise of double offers and deals.
At the heart of the campaign is the ‘Kodinhi Code’, a creative leap that transforms a real-world anomaly into a brand metaphor. Kerala’s famed ‘twin village' becomes the perfect narrative device to dramatise Flipkart’s 'sale par sale' proposition by cleverly extending the insight - anything bought by the town’s residents during the sale translates into double offers for all Flipkart users.
The film unfolds in this twin-filled universe, where everyday scenarios are exaggerated with visual humour, reinforcing the idea that in this town, doubling is just how things work.
What we think about it: The film lets the visual gags of multiple twins do the heavy lifting without trying too hard to explain the joke, while retaining the local flavour and cultural specificity. That makes it more watchable and less like a typical sale ad screaming offers at you. The ‘Kodinhi Store’ extension is also a nice touch that connects the storytelling back to actual shopping behaviour, instead of leaving it as just an attention-grabbing film.
Vishnu Srivatsav, chief creative experience officer, 22feet said, “Sometimes a data point gives you an idea like no other. It was almost like Kodinhi was waiting for a sale like SASA LELE to come along. And then the team went to town on the jokes. We wanted the execution to be authentic to the land while having a wider appeal, hence the jokes had to be more visual. Additionally, our directors, Chalees Chor gave it a rich texture and unexpected hilarity.”
