Flipkart's 'Goat Sale Is Back' campaign.

Flipkart has rolled out a campaign, 'Goat Sale Is Back', to highlight the e-commerce platform's upcoming sale 'Greatest of all time sale'.

The campaign comprises an ad film.

The film opens with a real-life goat arriving like a celebrity, in a limousine, onto a red carpet. It then cuts to the goat's assistant discussing his fussy dietary habits, revealing that he prefers oat milk over goat milk, adding a humorous twist. The narrative then shifts to the goat being pitched a pan masala endorsement, with a bag full of cash offered to him as he casually chews leaves, mirroring the way one might chew pan. The film goes on to show a director pitching a movie scene to the goat, while the animal makes star-like appearances from his home and is adored by enthusiastic fans who express their admiration. It concludes with the message that when a sale is named after oneself, it's only natural to behave like a superstar. The film then highlights the e-commerce platform's upcoming dates for its 'Greatest of All Time Sale'.

What we think about it: By treating a literal goat like an A-list celebrity, Flipkart cleverly plays on the 'GOAT' acronym while poking fun at fame, endorsements and star culture. The humour occasionally feels stretched, but the film succeeds in making the sale announcement entertaining and easy to remember.

The campaign was released on YouTube on 22 June.
