Manifest has partnered with IAA Voice of Change to identify and celebrate advertising that challenges stereotypes and promotes more progressive gender representation.
The committee for this section consists of: Nina Elavia Jaipuria, chairperson, Women Empowerment Committee, IAA India Chapter; Megha Tata, co-chairperson, Women Empowerment Committee, IAA India Chapter; and Geetanjali Master, partnership specialist, public and private sector engagement, resource mobilisation section, UNICEF Delhi.
This week, not one but two campaigns caught the committee's attention.
They come from different categories and narrate different stories, but both campaigns challenge traditional gender stereotypes in powerful ways. That's why they share the top spot as the most gender-progressive ads on this week's Voice-O-Meter.
Prega News takes on an often-overlooked issue: paternity leave. While conversations around parenthood tend to focus on mothers, the campaign makes a compelling case for fathers to be equally present and involved from day one. More importantly, it sends a strong message to Indian companies that caregiving is a shared responsibility, not just a woman's role.
Apollo Tyres, meanwhile, celebrates the journeys of India's women cricketers, reminding us that every champion's story starts long before the applause. By shining a light on the grit, sacrifices and determination behind their success, the campaign reinforces an important truth - girls are meant to play cricket too.
