Piyush Pandey

Piyush Pandey, who spent more than 40 years with Ogilvy, the last two of which as an advisor (prior to which he was global chief creative officer), passed away on 24 October. His funeral was held on 25 October at Shivaji Park. Joining his friends and family were former colleagues, actors who he worked with on ad films, clients, and more...

The industry has also paid tribute to the legend with prepared press statements.

Here are a few of them:

Amit Syngle, MD and CEO, Asian Paints

“The news of Piyush Pandey’s passing leaves a void that is impossible to fill, not just in India’s creative landscape but within the Asian Paints family. Piyush was much more than an advertising legend; he was the architect who helped us find the enduring soul of our brand. He was like a brand guardian who elevated the Asian Paints brand into a league of its own. Piyush possessed the unique gift of turning a utilitarian product into a profound emotion. It was his creative genius that birthed the iconic ‘Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai’ campaign, which fundamentally changed how India perceived the concept of ‘home’ with Asian Paints. That campaign, till today, gives every wall a voice and every house a personality. His legacy is permanent, and his influence will continue to color the way we think about creativity and connection for generations to come."

Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and executive chairperson, S4Capital (former chairperson and founder, WPP)

“So sad to hear this just now. We all loved Piyush. He was a real Indian tiger who led Ogilvy from the front to the end and was a creative titan. Clients really appreciate creative leaders, and he was one of the finest, carving out a reputation globally well beyond India’s borders. And, of course, he was a fine cricketer and cricket lover. It was a privilege to know him, work with him, and be with him. We have now recently lost two of Ogilvy and WPP’s finest leaders - Piyush and Sergio Amado. We wish Piyush’s family long life. Om Shanti."

Sudhanshu Vats, MD, Pidilite Industries

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Piyush Pandey, a legendary adman, a cultural architect, and the creative force behind some of India’s most iconic campaigns, including Fevicol and several other Pidilite brands. His work didn’t just build brands; it shaped culture.

Through unmatched wit, warmth, and insight, Piyush made India smile, and made Pidilite proud. His campaigns became part of the nation’s collective memory, and his words brought our brands to life in ways few could imagine.

At Pidilite, Piyush was more than a creative partner; he was a dear friend and a cherished part of our journey. His passing is a deeply personal loss for all of us.

For me, I will especially miss our monthly ritual of ‘Coffee Pe Charcha’ at his beautiful Dadar home, where we spoke about everything, from life and laughter to our brands.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Piyush’s legacy will continue to inspire generations of storytellers and brand builders.”
