The International Cricket Council (ICC) and JioStar have put out a joint statement to end speculations around news reports of the latter pulling out of the current broadcast deal.
According to media reports, JioStar reportedly pulled out of its current broadcasting deal with the ICC. The current broadcasting cycle kicked off in 2024 and was till the end of 2027. JioStar had bagged the rights for USD 3 billion.
While experts stated that this was on the back of JioStar believing that it wouldn't be able to run out this deal due to it overpaying for the rights as well as it facing the brunt of real money gaming apps being banned, ICC and JioStar put out a joint statement on social media to rubbish the rumours.
The statement stated that the media rights agreement in India remains fully in force.
