Diageo India, the owner of the champions of the 2025 edition of the IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has issued a statement about rumours of it selling the team.

According to a news report by Bloomberg, the company wrote to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) stating that the media reports about the sale were speculative.

Mital Sanghvi, the company secretary, stated that the company is not pursuing any such discussion.

The team bagged the IPL title for the first time in its 18-year history on 3 June.

A day later, during celebrations in the city, 11 people died due to a stampede which led to the arrest of the marketing head of the team.
