'Baap-Bete Ki Nayi Scheme' Sitaare Zameen Par promo on YouTube by Aamir Khan Talkies

To mark the exclusive YouTube release of his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par today (1 August 2025), Aamir Khan reunites with his iconic comic avatar, and brings his son Junaid Khan along for the ride.

In a nostalgia-laced promo, the father-son duo reimagine scenes from the 1994 cult classic Andaz Apna Apna, complete with Aamir’s hilarious banters with his onscreen dad, Murli Manohar (originally played by Deven Verma). In a quirky twist, director Rajkumar Santoshi pops in for a meta cameo as well.

It’s not just a throwback, though, it’s a reinvention with Aamir and Junaid flipping the original dynamic, serving up tongue-in-cheek digs at the former’s own recent flops, including Thugs of Hindostan and the Forrest Gump remake, Laal Singh Chaddha

The promo cleverly segues into a pitch for Sitaare Zameen Par, which breaks streaming norms by skipping traditional OTT platforms entirely. Instead, the film will be available on YouTube’s movie-on-demand service post its theatrical run, rentable for a fee.

What we think about it: The promo strikes the right chord of nostalgic yet fresh and self-aware, without overdoing it. Aamir and Junaid’s effortless chemistry feels less like a gimmick and more like a generational baton pass. With its clever callbacks to the 1994 cult comedy and sharp, self-deprecating jabs at Aamir’s recent flops, it sells his latest film entertainingly.
