Sony Sports Network's 'Not a Gentleman's Game' campaign

Sony Sports Network has rolled out a campaign ‘Not a Gentleman’s Game’ featuring India women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and actor Amitabh Bachchan, ahead of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026.

The film opens with Bachchan invoking the familiar phrase, “Cricket is a gentleman’s game,” only for Kaur to dismiss it with characteristic confidence. As the action unfolds, the message becomes unmistakable: victory has no gender; it only has the colour blue.

The campaign captures the intensity, aggression and relentless preparation behind India’s rise to the top of world cricket. From solitary training sessions, heavy weights and bruised hands to explosive performances, packed stadiums and the World Cup triumph, the film showcases a team that plays hard, plays to win and refuses to be defined by convention.

What we think about it: The film makes a strong statement by challenging the familiar idea of cricket as a 'gentleman’s game' and reframing it around performance rather than gender. Overall, it is a powerful, purposeful campaign that puts the women’s team’s competitive spirit front and centre.

Rajesh Kaul, chief revenue officer and business head, sports and international, Sony Pictures Networks India, said, "The Indian women’s team has transformed both how cricket is played and how it is followed in this country. They are world champions, they play an aggressive and fearless brand of cricket, and they enter every contest expecting to win. ‘Not a Gentleman’s Game’ captures that confidence through Harmanpreet Kaur and celebrates a team that has made the nation believe. The Women’s T20 Asia Cup promises high-intensity cricket, and we are delighted to bring every moment of it to audiences on Sony Sports Network and Sony Liv.”
