Visa 'Tap Safe with Visa' series

Visa has rolled out a series, 'Tap Safe with Visa', busting Tap to Pay myths, featuring comedian Cyrus Broacha.

The series has been conceptualised by Schbang. In the first episode, Broacha is seen walking around a market with a PoS machine, tapping it against people’s phones. As the machine beeps, the unsuspecting individuals assume that money has been debited from their bank accounts. The episode aims to bust that if you have NFC enabled on your phone, someone can simply tap a POS machine to it and take money from your bank account without you knowing.

What we think about it: The concept is fairly straightforward and works well as a way to highlight the potential risks associated with contactless payments. The format of Broacha going around unsuspecting people and pulling off a prank bears a strong resemblance to MTV Bakra, making the series feel more like a rehash of a familiar concept than a fresh idea.
