District by Zomato's ‘Table for One' campaign

District by Zomato has rolled out a new feature, ‘Table for One,’ across thousands of restaurants on its platform that quietly challenges the stigma around solo dining.

To mark this update, District has also released a short ad film that captures the simple but powerful idea that going out doesn’t always have to be about company, sometimes, it can just be about some good old me-time. The film celebrates the joy of spending time with oneself , without the added pressure of plus-ones - just good food and solitude.

The update was shared on LinkedIn by Rahul Ganjoo, CEO, District by Zomato, where he explained the inspiration behind the thoughtful move.

Interestingly, it all began when a user, Chand Kapoor, wrote a post on the networking site, calling out District for not allowing single-person bookings, while highlighting the struggles of booking a table for one.

The brand team took the feedback in stride - not only addressing the issue but going a step further by launching the ‘Table for One’ feature across 30,000+ restaurants on the platform.

What we think about it: The film resists the urge to oversell, trading grand gestures for relatable realism. While the premise is understated, one could argue the campaign stops short of exploring the emotional richness of solo dining - the liberation, awkwardness, and quiet joy that come with it. However, kudos to the effort.
