Stranger Things

Netflix India has rolled out a teaser for the upcoming season of its show Stranger Things, featuring cricketer Rohit Sharma.

The teaser is conceptualised by One Hand Clap.

The film opens in a cricket dressing room, where players are laughing and dancing around. That changes when Sharma enters. Composed and authoritative, he addresses the team and instructs them to begin preparations for the finale. His tone makes it immediately clear that this match carries significance beyond the ordinary. He then brings in a specially designed kit, created by Steve Harrington - not Steve Smith - a distinction he emphasises deliberately.  As Rohit proceeds with the briefing, a player asks him who the opposition is. Taking a pause before responding, Sharma responds, 'the one who flies people like kites.' He is referring to Vecna, the antagonist from Stranger Things - a force that operates from the Upside Down, a parallel world where logic is distorted and reality itself is reversed. The mood in the dressing room shifts. The laughter fades, replaced by focus and resolve.

What we think about it: Rather than relying on high-volume spectacle, the ad builds impact through contrast - opening with a relaxed, almost playful dressing-room atmosphere before decisively shifting gears with Sharma’s arrival. This transition is smooth and effective, immediately establishing authority and purpose. The creative choice to introduce a special kit designed by Steve Harrington, paired with the metaphor of Vecna from Stranger Things, gives the ad a contemporary edge. The reference is intelligent and well-integrated, framing the opposition as unpredictable and unconventional without overwhelming the core message.

The teaser released on 23 December.
